Apply Silk Fabric Dyes
Test out your colors on a piece of silk. If you decide to use wax or resist apply where you see fit. Wet your silk with water then begin applying the dye from light to dark.
Final Processes
Upon drying your artwork piece for 2 days it must then be steamed to set the dye permanently. You have to wrap it in newsprint paper, roll and put into a larger steamer pot. After 3 hours wash with cool water and Synthrapol liquid to get out excess dye. Continue until no more color is washing out. You are then ready to frame or make a wearable.
Teaching others to paint on silk is such a joy!
